Prairie Creek horse trail is a 2.5-mile linear trail on the west side of Prairie Creek Reservoir. The trail head is at the Indian Hill area on county road (CR) 475 east.
This trail head has a large gravel lot with ample parking for trailers of any size. There are hitching rails and mounting blocks, but no water or toilet facilities are available.
Overnight camping is available for horse trailers with self-contained toilets.
When you reach the end of the trail, you may return to the trail head or proceed to the Cardinal Greenways horse trail. A 300-yard road crossing takes riders to the Red Tail Conservancy area.
After crossing the asphalt trail (horses are not permitted on the asphalt), riders may go north or south on the Cardinal Greenways horse trail.
The 3.5-mile linear horse trail parallels an asphalt trail. The horse trail is primarily wooded with moderate hills and one water crossing. This trail is currently open from CR500 south to CR534 east.
Medford Trail Head (CR500 south) has ample room for trailers with a looped gravel lot. There are hitching rails, a mounting step, and toilet facilities, but no water dispenser. A round trip from one trail to the other is approximately 10 miles. Both trails are maintained solely by volunteers.
